The St. Johns Red Storm take the hardwood with the Creighton Bluejays in Big East college basketball on Wednesday.
The St. John’s Red Storm have struggled in the Big East thus far dropping four of five capped off by an 89-78 defeat to Georgetown as a seven point home favorite on Sunday.
St. Johns was down four points after 20 minutes but faded with 38.2% which negated 19 forced turnovers and 12 more looks.
Shamorie Ponds starred for the Red Storm with 21 points, six boards and three assists with Mustapha Heron adding 18 points and five pulls.
St. John’s saw 14 points and six rebounds from LJ Figueroa followed by Marvin Clark II with a 12 point performance.
The Creighton Bluejays are shooting for a third consecutive win after upending Butler 75-61 on Friday as a 2.5 point home favorite.
Creighton took a 7.5 point lead in to the intermission and slowly built the advantage in the second half with the offense hitting half their looks.
The balanced Bluejays saw 19 points and four pulls from Ty-Shon Alexander with Martin Krampelj adding 16 points and eight rebounds.
Davion Mintz gave the Red Storm 14 points, six rebounds and six assists followed by Mitch Ballock with 13 points, seven boards and four helpers.
