Davidson Wildcats -5.5 -- Over/Under: 135
The Rhode Island Rams and the Davidson Wildcats meet in A-10 college basketball action from the Belk Arena on Wednesday night.
The Rhode Island Rams will be out to find some measure of consistency after splitting their last 4 games following a 65-54 win over Saint Louis in their last outing. Jeff Dowtin led the Rams with 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting with a team-high 4 assists while Tyrese Martin came right behind with 16 points on 6 of 12 shooting with a pair of threes, 10 rebounds and a pair of steals for the double-double. Fatts Russell added 13 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for URI in the win, while Cyril Langevine had 6 points with 9 rebounds, 4 assists and a game-high 5 blocks in the victory. Dowtin leads Rhode Island with an average of 16.2 points and 4 assists per game while Langevine leads the Rams in rebounding with 9.7 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Rhode Island is averaging 70.8 points per game on 43.3% shooting from the field, 27.1% from behind the 3-point line and 67.8% from the foul line this season.
The Davidson Wildcats will be out to build on their current 4-game winning streak after a 75-66 win over St. Bonaventure in their last outing. Kellan Grady led the Wildcats with 29 points on 10 of 17 shooting with 5 threes while Luke Frampton and Jon Axel Gudmundsson each had 19 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Davidson in the win. Frampton shot 5 of 9 from 3-point range while Gudmundsson had team-highs of 8 rebounds and 4 assists as well in the victory. Grady leads Davidson in scoring with 18.1 points per game while Gudmundsson leads the Wildcats with averages of 6.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this season. As a team, Davidson is averaging 71.7 points per game on 44.4% shooting from the field, 34.5% from behind the 3-point line and 74.8% from the foul line this season.
Rhode Island is 4-11 ATS in their last 15 road games and 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games following a win while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall. Davidson is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 conference games. The under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams at Davidson.
Rhode Island has some solid experienced pieces in their lineup with the likes of Dowtin, Russell and Langevine leading the way, but I still have my concerns about the Rams on the road. Davidson has been consistent and is looking like the team to beat in the A-10 this season, so given the recent form of these two teams, I’ll lay the reasonable number with Davidson here.
