The St. Bonaventure Bonnies and the Davidson Wildcats meet in A-10 college basketball action from the Belk Arena on Wednesday night.
The St. Bonaventure Bonnies will look to build on their current 6-game winning streak after a 64-58 road win over George Washington last time out. Osun Osunniyi led the Bonnies with 18 points on 8 of 9 shooting with a game-high 16 rebounds and 3 blocks while LaDarien Griffin added 11 points on 5 of 8 shooting with 7 rebounds and Kyle Lofton had 10 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for the Bonnies in the win. Courtney Stockard had 9 points and a team-high 5 assists as well in the victory. Lofton leads the Bonnies with an average of 14.4 points and 3.7 assists per game while Osunniyi leads St. Bonaventure in rebounding with 7.4 rebounds per game this season. As a team, St. Bonaventure is averaging 67.2 points per game on 43.6% shooting from the field, 32.2% from behind the 3-point line and 73% from the foul line this season.
The Davidson Wildcats will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 5 games following a 77-52 win over Fordham last time out. Kellan Grady led the Wildcats with 25 points on 10 of 19 shooting with 3 threes and 6 rebounds while Jon Axel Gudmundsson had 17 points on 7 of 12 shooting with 3 threes and team-highs of 11 rebounds and 8 assists for the double-double. Luka Brajkovic added 15 points on 7 of 8 shooting in just 16 minutes to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Davidson in the winning effort. Gudmundsson leads Davidson with an average of 17 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Davidson is averaging 71.6 points per game on 45.4% shooting from the field, 35.7% from behind the arc and 74.4% from the foul line this season.
St. Bonaventure is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Davidson is 23-11-1 ATS in their last 35 conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. St. Bonaventure is 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
Davidson still has an outside shot at the A-10 regular season crown, so you can probably expect all hands to be on deck for the Wildcats in this one. However, the Wildcats have also had consistency issues lately, while the only thing St. Bonaventure has done lately with consistency is win. The Bonnies have had issues in this matchup in recent years, but I think the Bonnies can ride their momentum to at the very least cover here, so I’ll take St. Bonaventure and the points.
