The Charleston Cougars won their 4th straight game and improved to 18-6 (7-4 CAA) on the season after defeating the Towson Tigers, 54-53, this past Saturday. In a game that featured solid defense on both sides, Charleston was able to fight back from a 53-49 deficit with just 1:20 left in regulation to secure win after Grant Riller hit a game-winning reverse lay-up for the Cougars with :15 seconds left in regulation. Charleston shot 39.2% from the field and 40.9% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Cougars was Grant Riller who had 12 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound, and a steal.
On the season, Charleston is averaging 71.8 ppg on 47.2% shooting from the field. The Cougars are averaging 6.5 three-pointers per game on 32.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Charleston has been led by Grant Riller (21.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.2 spg), Jarrell Brantley (18.6 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.3 spg), Brevin Galloway (7.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.3 spg), and Zep Jasper (5.3 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 1.3 apg).

The Delaware Blue Hens lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 14-10 (6-5 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the William & Mary Tribe, 84-63, this past Saturday. Delaware had no answers defensively against the Tribe’s offense and couldn’t fight back after William & Mary took a 44-34 lead early in the 2nd half. Delaware shot just 33.9% from the field while allowing William & Mary to shoot 50.9% from the field & 50.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Blue Hens was Ithiel Horton who had 14 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 steals.
On the season, Delaware is averaging 71.5 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Blue Hens are averaging 8.3 three-pointers per game on 36.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Delaware has been led by Eric Carter (17.0 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 2.5 apg), Ryan Allen (15.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.3 apg), Ithiel Horton (13.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.1 spg), and Kevin Anderson (10.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.6 apg).
Defensively, Delaware is allowing their opponents to average 70.8 ppg on 43.4% shooting from the field. The Blue Hens have a rebound margin of -0.7 and a turnover margin of -1.7.
The Cougars are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games following three or more consecutive home games, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Blue Hens are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 Thursday games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Charleston has won 5 of their last 7 games and currently rank 217th in scoring offense, 55th in FG%, and T-41st in scoring defense.
Delaware has lost 4 of their last 6 games, however, the Blue Hens have been decent on both sides of the ball this season as they rank 121st in FG%, 70th in 3P-FG%, 165th in scoring defense, and 167th in defensive FG%.
Charleston is a solid team, however, they have not been solid on the road this season in conference play as the Cougars have posted just a 1-3 record. Delaware looked flat in their 2-game road trip last weekend, however, this is a solid overall team that has been great at home this season, posting an 8-4 home record. Delaware has lost their last 6 games agianst Charleston, however, I think Eric Carter & Ryan Allen will be able to do enough agianst the Cougars defense to keep this one within the number. Take Delaware and the points.
