The Cornell Big Red visit the Bob Carpenter Center to oppose the Delaware Blue Hens in a Wednesday college basketball tilt.
The Cornell Big Red have a few good performances mixed in with a few bad and the result is a 5-5 record capped off by an 89-86 loss to the Niagara Purple Eagles as a 1.5 point underdog on Saturday. Both teams sank shots at around 44% with Cornell hurting themselves with an 8-29 effort from beyond the arc.
The Big Red offense was a two man game with Matt Morgan leading all scorers with 33 points, six boards and four assists on 11-22 from the floor including a 6-14 mark on threes. Stone Gettings gave Cornell another 30 points, eleven rebounds and five assists on 12-20 shooting while Jack Gordon chipped in with seven points and ten boards.
The Delaware Blue Hens are looking for improvement over 2016-17 and the team has looked better but only time will determine how much better. Delaware has won back to back contests after upending the Cal. State-Bakersfield Roadrunners 76-62. The Blue Hens were up eleven at the intermission with a 44%-4% shooting edge and seven more makes at the line being the difference.
The Blue Hens leaned on a few players for the bulk of their production with Kevin Anderson leading the way with 22 points, six pulls, three assists and two blocks on 7-11 from the floor. Ryan Daly added 20 points nine boards and five helpers while Eric Carter scored 15 points and hauled in ten rebounds on 4-6 from the floor.
