The Towson Tigers will travel to the Bob Carpenter Center to take on the Delaware Blue Hens this Saturday night in College Basketball action.
The Towson Tigers lost their 6th straight game and dropped to 5-14 (1-5 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the Drexel Dragons, 72-66, this past Thursday. Towson led by a 57-47 margin midway through the 2nd half, however, struggled offensively down the stretch and couldn’t fight back after a 10-0 Dragons run gave Drexel a 65-59 lead with 3:48 left in regulation. Towson shot 32.4% shooting from the field and 38.1% shooting from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Tigers was Brian Fobbs who had 21 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.
On the season, Towson is averaging 66.7 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Tigers are averaging 5.7 three-pointers per game on 32.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Towson has been led by Brian Fobbs (16.1 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.2 apg), Tobias Howard (9.8 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.9 apg), Nakye Sanders (8.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg), and Dennis Tunstall (5.3 ppg, 7.8 rpg).
Defensively, Towson is allowing their opponents to an average of 70.5 ppg on 43.4% shooting from the field. The Tigers have a rebound margin of 5.7 and a turnover margin of -2.3.
The Delaware Blue Hens Improved to 13-7 (5-2 CAA) on the season after defeating the James Madison Dukes, 76-69, this past Thursday night. Delaware jumped out to an 16-2 lead to kick off the game and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 66-55 lead with 5:40 left in regulation. Delaware shot 56.0% from the field & 50.0% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Blue Hens was Ryan Allen who had 29 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, and a steal.
On the season, Delaware is averaging 72.9 ppg on 46.7% shooting from the field. The Blue Hens are averaging 8.6 three-pointers per game on 38.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Delaware has been led by Eric Carter (17.7 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 2.5 apg), Ryan Allen (16.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.1 apg), Ithiel Horton (13.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.0 spg), and Kevin Anderson (10.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.0 spg).
Defensviely, Delaware is allowing their opponents to average 71.0 ppg on 42.9% shooting from the field. The Blue Hens have a rebound margin of 0.5 and a turnover margin of -2.4.
The Tigers are 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 Saturday games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss. The Blue Hens are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.
Towson has lost 7 of their last 8 games and has really struggled on the offensive end this season as they rank just 314th in scoring offense, 298th in FG%, and 328th in three-pointers made per game. Delaware has won 5 of their last 6 games and has been solid on both ends of the court as they rank 89th in FG%, 36th in 3P-FG%, and T-166th in scoring defense.
Towson’s defense has taken a step back this season which isn’t good considering their offense is really struggling to put points up on the board. Delaware is a solid team this year led by the trio of Eric Carter, Ryan Allen, & Kevin Anderson and Delaware has been great ATS as of late, I think the Blue Hens continues their success at home in this one and cover this mid-range spread.
