DePaul Blue Demons -1 O/U: 152
The St. John’s Red Storm and the DePaul Blue Demons will meet up in college basketball action on Sunday.
St. John’s is sitting at 20-9 on the year so far. The Red Storm are 1-2 in their last three outings, with a win over Seton Hall sandwiched between losses to Providence and Xavier in that time.
In the loss to the Musketeers, St. John’s lead scorer was LJ Figueroa, with 23 points, five rebounds and four assists. Also in double-figures for the Red Storm were Shamorie Ponds (13 points; six rebounds) and Marvin Clark (11 points).
Over on the DePaul side, they’re 13-13 this year. The Blue Demons have lost their last four straight games, falling to Marquette, Butler, Creighton and Georgetown over that stretch.
In the loss to the Hoyas, DePaul’s Max Strus led the team on 25 points with three assists and one rebound. Paul Reed doubled up with 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Demons there, and Eli Cain added 14 points.
The Red Storm are 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up loss and 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss. St. John’s is 5-1 ATS in their last six after a double-digit loss at home and the under is 4-0 in their last four road games.
Meanwhile, the Demons are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall. DePaul is 0-4 ATS in the last four versus the Big East and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss.
St. John’s has been able to string together some solid wins this season, and on the occasions they don’t get outmuscled on the boards they’ve usually got a very good chance to perform well.
DePaul did just that the last time these teams met up, with three players finishing on at least eight rebounds. I see this one as another physical and tight game. The Blue Demons haven’t been great ATS lately but this is a favorable matchup for them and I think they can cover.
