The Drake Bulldogs won their 4ths straight game and improved to 16-5 (5-3 MVC) on the season after defeating the Valparaiso Crusaders, 70-59, this past Saturday. Drake was outstanding on the defensive end against the Crusaders and pulled away late after a 7-0 Bulldogs run gave Drake a 67-55 lead with 1:36 left in regulation. Drake shot 47.1% from the field while holding the Crusaders to just 37.9% shooting from the field & 12.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was D.J. Wilkins who had 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal.

The Redbirds are 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 games vs. MVC opponents and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Bulldogs are 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs MVC opponents and 14-2-1 ATS in their 1ast 17 games following an ATS win.
Illinois State has won 3 of their last 4 games however, hasn’t been that strong statistically on either end of the court as they come into this game ranked just 218th in scoring offense, 214th in scoring defense, and T-248th in rebound margin. Drake has won 5 of their last 6 games and has been led by their offense that ranks 71st in scoring offense, 43rd in FG%, and 75th in 3P-FG%.
Drake is one of the better MVC teams this season and has been outstanding at home this season, posting a 9-1 record. Illinois State is a decent team, however, the Redbirds are just 1-6 on the road this season and as I think their defense is going to struggle against the Bulldogs, I’m taking Drake to cover this mid-range home spread.
