Drake Bulldogs -4.5 -- Over/Under: 151
The Missouri State Bears and the Drake Bulldogs meet in Missouri Valley conference college basketball action from the Knapp Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Missouri State Bears will look to rebound after a 70-64 loss to Evansville in their last outing. Tulio Da Silva and Keandre Cook tied for the team-high with 14 points apiece, with Da Silva leading the Bears with 13 rebounds for the double-double while Cook shot 4 of 7 with a 6 of 8 mark from the foul line. Josh Webster added 11 points on 5 of 9 shooting with team-highs of 5 assists and 3 steals to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Missouri State in the losing effort. Jarred Dixon was held to just 7 points but still leads Missouri State in scoring with 14.2 points per game while Kabir Mohammed leads the Bears in rebounding with 4.1 rebounds per game and the aforementioned Webster leads the Bears in assists with 5.6 assists per game this season. As a team, Missouri State is averaging 75.2 points per game on 46.3% shooting from the field, 32.5% from 3-point range and 69.5% from the foul line this season.
The Drake Bulldogs will look to find some form of consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 4 games following a 69-52 win over Bradley in their last outing. Nick McGlynn led the Bulldogs with 19 points on 8 of 11 shooting with 11 rebounds for the double-double while Brady Ellingson added 15 points on 5 of 9 shooting from downtown and Tremell Murphy added 11 points with 11 rebounds of his own for his very own double-double. D.J. Wilkins added 10 points to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Drake in the win, while Noah Thomas dished out a team-high 6 assists as well in the victory. McGlynn leads Drake with an average of 16.5 points and 8 rebounds per game while Nick Norton leads Drake in assists with 5.9 assists per game this season. As a team, Drake is averaging 78.7 points per game on 47.6% shooting from the field, 36.6% from behind the 3-point line and 73.9% from the foul line this season.
Missouri State is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games and 11-23 ATS in their last 34 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Drake is 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall and 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 29-14 in their last 43 home games. Missouri State is 0-5 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams at Drake.
I don’t have much faith in either of these two teams right now, but if forced to pick, I trust Drake more. The Bulldogs are the better team on defense and have been killing it against the spread for much of the season. Add in the lack of success that Missouri State has had in this matchup, and that the home team has covered in 17 of the last 24 meetings between the two and I think laying the points with Drake is the better option here.
