Drake Bulldogs -2 O/U: 134
The Northern Iowa Panthers and the Drake Bulldogs will match up on the college basketball court in the Missouri Valley Tournament on Saturday.
Northern Iowa enters this one with a 15-17 record overall. The Panthers had lost two games heading into the tournament to Loyola (CHI) and Indiana State, but took their first-round matchup versus Southern Illinois.
In the win over Southern Illinois, Northern Iowa’s lead scorer was Wyatt Lohaus with 21 points, five rebounds and two assists. Trae Berhow also added 11 points and five rebounds for the Panthers in that one.
Over on the Drake side, they’re sitting at 24-8 on the season. The Bulldogs have won seven of their last eight games, and three consecutive against Indiana State, Missouri State and Illinois State.
In the win over the Redbirds, Drake’s lead scorer was Tremell Murphy with26 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Anthony Murphy had a nice line for the Bulldogs in that one as well with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Drake is 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 Saturday games and 6-0 ATS in their last six neutral-site games. The over is 5-1 in the Bulldogs’ last six overall and the under is 30-13 in their last 43 neutral-site games.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are 7-21 ATS in their last 28 Saturday games and 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win. Northern Iowa is 6-1 ATS in their last seven overall and the under is 4-0 in their last four neutral-site games.
Drake rolled right through Illinois State without a whole lot of difficulty, bagging a 37-17 halftime lead and cruising there rest of the way. That makes three straight games where the Bulldogs have scored at least 73 points, and they’ve also hit 72 in each of their last seven wins.
Considering the run that they’re on (and the fact that they’ve exorcised their Illinois State demons), I’m likely going to go with the Bulldogs in the cover here.
