USA TODAY Sports

The Towson Tigers will travel to the Daskalakis Athletic Center to take on the Drexel Dragons this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The Towson Tigers dropped to 16-9 (6-6 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the James Madison Dukes, 79-73, this past Saturday. Towson led by a 35-29 margin at halftime, however, uncharacteristically struggled on the defensive end in the 2nd half and allowed the Dukes to pull away late after James Madison closed out the final 2:39 of regulation on a 13-3 run. Towson shot just 40.6% from the field and 27.8% (5-18) from beyond the arc while allowing the Dukes to shoot 52.8% from the field. Leading the way for the Tigers was Zane Martin who had 28 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals. On the season, Towson is averaging 77.2 ppg on 47.1% shooting from the field. The Tigers are averaging 7.0 three-pointers per game on 37.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensviely, Towson has been led by Zane Martin (19.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.3 apg), Mike Morsell (13.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.0 spg), Justin Gorham (9.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg), and Brian Starr (8.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.0 spg). Defensively, Towson is holding their opponents to an average of 69.0 ppg on 41.6% shooting from the field. The Tigers have a rebound margin of 5.6 and a turnover margin of 0.8.

The Drexel Dragons won their 4th straight game and improved to 11-14 (5-7 CAA) on the season after defeating the William & Mary Tribe, 91-79, this past Saturday. Drexel was outstanding on the offensive end and pulled away late after finishing the final 4:12 of regulation on a 21-8 run. Drexel shot 61.5% from the field and 50.0% (11-22) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Dragons was Tramaine Isabell who had 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists. On the season, Drexel is averaging 74.2 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Dragons are averaging 7.0 three-pointers per game on 33.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensviely, Drexel has been led by Tramaine Isabell (19.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.4 spg), Kurk Lee (13.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.0 spg), Sammy Mojica (11.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.7 spg), and Alihan Demir (11.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.0 apg). Defensively, Drexel is allowing their opponents to average 78.0 ppg on 46.0% shooting from the field. The Dragons have a rebound margin of 0.4 and a turnover margin of -0.8.

The Tigers are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 Thursday games however, are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Dragons are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games after scoring more than 90 points in their previous game.

Towson has lost 3 of their last 5 games however, the Tigers still come into this matchup as one of the better statistical teams in the country as Towson currently ranks in the top-100 in both scoring offense & defense. Drexel has been playing their best basketball of the season as of late and although they rank just 169th in scoring offense, the Dragons have been averaging an impressive 79.5 ppg during their 4-game winning streak. Towson was able to easily defeat Drexel at home earlier this season, however, the Tigers have been awful ATS on the road as of late and as Drexel is 4-2 at home in their last 6 games which includes a win against the conference leading College of Charleston Cougars, I’m taking Drexel and the points in this one.

Pick:
Drexel Dragons +3.5
