Duquesne Dukes -3.5 O/U: 142
The Saint Joseph’s Hawks and the Duquesne Dukes will match up on the college basketball court Saturday.
St. Joseph’s comes into this matchup at 7-8 on the season. The Hawks have lost their last three straight games, dropping to George Mason, George Washington and St. Bonaventure in succession.
In the loss to the Bonnies, Lamar Kimble led the Hawks with 16 points and two assists. The only other Saint Joseph’s player with double-figures was Charles Brown, with 11 points, four rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Duquesne side, they’re 10-5 this year. Following consecutive losses to NJIT and Davidson, the Dukes won their last game versus Fordham 66-61 on Wednesday.
In the win versus the Rams, Duquesne’s lead scorer was Eric Williams, who doubled up on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Marcus Weathers added 12 points for the Dukes and Amari Kelly scored 11.
The Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five versus a team with a winning straight-up record and 0-5 ATS in their last five Saturday games. St. Joseph’s is also 0-5 ATS in their last five following an ATS loss and 0-6 ATS in their last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Dukes are 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 Saturday games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall. Duquesne is 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up win and 0-3-1 ATS in the last four home games.
Saint Joseph’s looked like they were playing in molasses in their last outing versus a not-so-good Bonnies team. The Hawks went into the break with a 39-12 deficit, and though things improved in the second half they still were blown out 73-47.
As for Duquesne, they’re not impressing anyone offensively these days, but they have buckled down on defense over the last couple of games.
I’m taking Duquesne on a slim cover here in what may very well be an ugly game.
