The VCU Rams go on the road to oppose the Duquesne Dukes in Saturday college basketball.
The VCU Rams were denied a third straight victory in a 71-65 loss to Rhode Island as a 1.5 point road underdog on Wednesday.
VCU was ahead by four points at the intermission before Rhode Island closed the game on a 50-40 second half run.
Marcus Santos-Siva kept the Rams in the game with 17 points and seven rebounds while De’Riante Jenkins tossing in another 16 points.
Marcus Evans gave VCU 13 points, five pulls and six helpers followed by Issac Vann and Vince Williams with eleven points and seven rebounds.
The surging Duquesne Dukes have rattled off five wins in a row after edging St. Louis 77-73 as a 1.5 point home dog on Wednesday.
Both teams sank shots in the 38% range with Duquesne forcing 23 turnovers and holding a 25-19 advantage at the foul line.
Marcus Weathers carried the Dukes to the win with 19 points and nine rebounds while Eric Williams Jr. added 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Sincere Gary gave Duquesne ten points and seven helpers followed by Michael Hughes and Gavin Bizeau with a combined 17 points.
