East Carolina Pirates +6 O/U: 141
The Connecticut Huskies and the East Carolina Pirates will meet up on the college basketball court Sunday.
Connecticut comes into this one with a 14-16 record so far. The Huskies have lost seven of their last eight games and beat South Florida last Sunday before falling to Temple on Thursday.
In the Temple game, Connecticut’s top scorer was Christian Vital, with 26 points and seven rebounds with three steals. Josh Carlton also had a solid night for the Huskies on 21 points with seven rebounds.
Over on the East Carolina side, they’re 10-19 this year. The Pirates have lost their last three straight games, falling to Houston, Tulsa and Wichita State in that stretch of outings.
In the Wichita State game, East Carolina’s top scorer was Isaac Fleming, with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Shawn Williams chipped in 12 points for the Pirates in that one, along with two rebounds and one assist.
The Huskies are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Sunday games and 5-12 ATS in their last 17 road games. Connecticut is 6-2 ATS in their last eight after a straight-up loss and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 5-2 ATS in the last seven Sunday games and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 overall. East Carolina is 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine after an ATS loss.
There’s obviously not much to like about Connecticut’s recent play, but if you’re looking for a silver lining in their last two games, the Huskies beat South Florida and scored 71 against Temple.
East Carolina has been pretty bad as well however, so there’s really not a great play here. Given the fact that the Pirates haven’t been scoring so great at home lately, and the fact that UConn can put up the points when they’re so inclined, I’m taking the Huskies on a cover here.
