AAC college basketball action pits the #8 Houston Cougars at the East Carolina Pirates.

The #8 Houston Cougars continue to impress as they ran their record to 26-1 after a 71-59 victory over South Florida on Saturday.

Houston is well on their way to wrapping up first in the American with a workmanship like approach that has seen the team strangle opponents with their defense.

Dejon Jarreau led the Cougars offense with 17 points, three yanks and four assists with Corey Davis Jr. adding 15 points and three pulls.

Fabian White Jr. gave Houston another nine points and three boards followed by Nate Hinton who tossed in another nine points.

The East Carolina Pirates are eyeing consecutive victories after knocking off Tulane 85-81 on Saturday as a 1.5 point underdog.

East Carolina is next to last the conference standings and have little room to climb the standings with just two weeks left in the regular season.

Shawn Williams exploded for 27 points for the Pirates followed by Isaac Fleming who pumped in 20 points and hauled in ten rebounds..

ECU received 14 points and seven boards from Seth LeDay followed by Jaden Gardner who netted eleven points and three yanks.

Houston Cougars are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 road games and Houston Cougars are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games and Houston Cougars are 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 vs. American Athletic Conference.

ECU Pirates are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and ECU Pirates are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 vs. American Athletic Conference.

Home team is 15-5-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings and over is 11-4-1 in the last 16 meetings.

I don’t like laying all the points on the road even with mighty Houston but I’ll go with their potential…

Houston -17

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
