NCAA BB | UNC Wilmington Seahawks (2-3) at East Carolina Pirates (2-4)

The North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks visit the East Carolina Pirates in Thursday college basketball.

The North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks hope to get back in the win column following a 79-70 loss to the Valparaiso Crusaders as an 8.5 point underdog Saturday that saddled the team with back to back defeats. The game was tied at the intermission before the Crusaders edged ahead and never looked back with a 41.8%-33.8% shooting edge and eight more free throws being the difference.

The Seahawks saw the duo of Ty Taylor II and Jordan Talley score 13 points apiece but were only a combined 8-27 from the floor. Devontae Cacock gave UNCW 12 points and ten rebounds with Jay Estime’ tossing in eleven points while Jaylen Fornes and Marcus Bryan combined for 17 points with Bryan grabbing another ten rebounds.

The East Carolina Pirates need a quick reversal of fortunes to rebound from a 2-4 start to the year. East Carolina has lost four of five following an 87-81 loss to the North Carolina A&T Aggies. The Pirates were outshot 50%-46.6% but the decisive difference came at the stripe where the Aggies led 29-20.

East Carolina received 23 points on 7-11 from the floor from Isaac Fleming while Shawn Williams and Kentrell Barkley each netted 19 points with Barkley hauling in eleven rebounds and handing out five assists. BJ Tyson gave the Seahawks another eleven points with the remainder of the team scoring nine.

Over is 8-1 in UNCW last 9 non-conference games and over is 7-3 in UNCW last 10 Thursday games. East Carolina are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and East Carolina are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games.

Not the type of game where bet the house but perhaps something small on the Seahawks if you need something to watch…

UNCW +1.5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
