Thursday SoCon college basketball season pits the Citadel Bulldogs against the ETSU Buccaneers.

The Citadel Bulldogs are eyeing consecutive wins after upending Mercer 67-61 as a 7.5 point road dog on Saturday.

The pace did not favor the Citadel who tend to run and gun with opponents but Mercer could not score the basketball.

Lew Stallworth carried the Bulldogs pouring in a contest high 27 points with three yanks with Kaiden Rice adding eleven points and six pulls.

Hayden Brown gave the Citadel ten points and eleven rebounds followed by Connor Kern who tossed in nine points and posted five boards.

The East Tennessee State Buccaneers are looking at consecutive defeats after falling at Furman 91-61 on Saturday as a 2.5 point underdog.

East Tennessee State struggled at both ends of the floor with neither their high powered offense or defense able to find a groove.

Jeromy Rodriguez was the Buccaneers best player with 21 points and seven rebounds with Tray Boyd III tossing in 13 points.

ETSU received eight points and four pulls from Isaiah Tisdale followed by Bo Hodges and Davien Williamson with seven and six points.

Citadel Bulldogs are 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 vs. Southern and Citadel Bulldogs are 2-9-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall. ETSU Buccaneers are 33-16-2 ATS in their last 51 games overall and ETSU Buccaneers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games. Citadel Bulldogs are 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings in East Tennessee State and under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.

East Tennessee State won’t lose a third  straight game against a struggling Bulldogs squad but I’d rather take a chance with the points or look elsewhere…

Citadel +16

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
