Eastern Illinois Panthers +6 O/U: 144.5
The Austin Peay Governors and the Eastern Illinois Panthers will meet up in college basketball action on Saturday.
Austin Peay enters this one at a strong 13-5 on the season. The Governors have won their last five straight games, taking out Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, SEMO, TN-Martin and SIUE in that span.
In the win over the Cougars, Austin Peay’s Terry Taylor topped the team with a double-double on 33 points and 12 rebounds. Chris Porter-Bunton chipped in 11 points and Steve Harris added 10 for the Governors.
Over on the EIU side, they’re sitting at 10-8 this year. The Panthers are 2-2 over their last four games, beating SIUE and TN Tech while falling to JSU and Murray State during that time.
In the loss to the Racers, Eastern Illinois’ top scorer was Mack Smith on 22 points, four rebounds and two assists. Shareef Smith would add 13 points, and Rade Kukobat put up 12 points with six rebounds for the Panthers in that one.
The Governors are 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the Ohio Valley and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games. Austin Peay is 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven following an ATS win.
Meanwhile, EIU is 7-2-1 ATS in the last 10 Saturday games and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight following a straight-up loss. The over is 5-1 in the Panthers’ last six Saturday games and 24-9 in their last 33 overall.
Austin Peay is on quite a nice roll right now, and against the quality of teams that they’ve been playing, the Governors are among the top of that group—just not yet ready to take on the stronger schools like Arkansas.
In any event, EIU has hit the wall in scoring over their last three games, not making it past 62 points in any of them. If the Govs play like they’re capable, I don’t think they’ll have a whole lot of problems covering here. Give me AP.
