Eastern Illinois Panthers +7 O/U: 140
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks and the Eastern Illinois Panthers will match up on the college basketball court Thursday.
Jacksonville State enters this game on a 21-8 mark so far. The Gamecocks are currently riding a five-game win streak, taking out SEMO, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee State, Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky.
In the 2OT win over the Colonels, Jacksonville State’s top scorer was Jamall Gregory with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists. Jason Burnell added 20 points and eight rebounds for the Gamecocks there, and Christian Cunningham doubled up on 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Over on the Eastern Illinois side, they’re 14-15 this year. The Panthers have dropped their last three straight games, falling to SEMO, Belmont and Tennessee State during that stretch.
In the loss to the Tigers, Eastern Illinois’ Josiah Wallace led the team with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists. Ben Harvey was the only other Panthers player in double-figures there with 11 points and six rebounds.
The Gamecocks are 7-3-2 ATS in their last 12 road games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games. Jacksonville State is 1-3-1 ATS in the last five after a straight-up win and the under is 3-1-1 in their last five Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are 4-1 ATS in the last five Thursday games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine after a straight-up loss. EIU is 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss and the over is 5-2 in their last seven overall.
Jacksonville State is a pretty dangerous team, and they can hang with just about any comparable team. The Gamecocks do suffer scoring lulls here and there however, which is a bit of a concern.
The Panthers put up a good fight the last time these teams met up, falling 69-62. I’m not convinced EIU can get it done here though, so I’m going to stick with Jacksonville State on the cover.
