Eastern Kentucky Colonels +4.5 O/U: 157
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks and the Eastern Kentucky Colonels will meet up in college basketball activity on Thursday.
Jacksonville State enters this game at 14-5 on the year. The Gamecocks have won their last seven outings, beating Reinhardt, Belmont, Tennessee State, EIU, SIUE, Belmont and Tennessee Tech.
In the win over the Eagles, Jacksonville State’s Ty Hudson and Jason Burnell each led the team on 14 points. Burnell doubled up with 14 rebounds for the Gamecocks in that one, and Hudson managed six rebounds with two assists.
Over on the Eastern Kentucky side, they’re 9-10 this year. Following a four-game losing stretch, the Colonels have put together wins in their last two outings versus Tennessee-Martin and Southeast Missouri State.
In the victory versus SEMO, Nick Mayo led the Colonels with 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Also in double-figures for the Colonels there were Jomaru Brown (17 points; seven rebounds) and Tre King (10 points).
The Gamecocks are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven road games and 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 overall. Jacksonville State is 6-2 ATS in their last eight Thursday games and the over is 4-1 in their last five Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Colonels are 6-1 ATS in their last seven following an ATS loss and 7-16 ATS in their last 23 home games. EKU is 2-5 ATS in their last seven versus the Ohio Valley and 1-5-2 ATS in their last eight after a straight-up win.
Well, the Gamecocks are on a nice run lately, and they had a couple of good scoring outings versus SIUE and Belmont (181 combined points) before slowing down on 65 points versus the Eagles.
Eastern Kentucky has been pouring in the points themselves, bagging 93, 97 and 85 in their last three games respectively. I’m going to go with the Colonels to turn it on and cover here.
