Instate college basketball rivals the Northern Kentucky Norse and Eastern Kentucky Colonels collide.

The Northern Kentucky Norse fell to 8-2 with a tough 78-65 defeat at the hands of Cincinnati on Tuesday as an eleven point road dog. Northern Kentucky was done in by a 45-28 first half hole with 40% shooting and eight more looks not enough to overcome the Bearcats 46.2% marksmanship and 26-6 advantage at the line.

The Norse received 16 points from Tyler Sharpe on 6-9 accuracy including 4-7 from beyond the arc with Jalen Tate with 13 points, three yanks and three helpers on 5-13 from the floor. Drew McDonald, Dantez Walton and Zaynah Robinson gave NKU eight points each and a combined 15 rebounds followed by a seven point effort from Trevion Faulkner on 3-3 shooting.

The Eastern Kentucky Colonels have been on the uptick with wins in three of four after squeezing past South Carolina Upstate 79-77 as a ten point home favorite. Eastern Kentucky were outshot 43.9%-35.5% but forced 25 turnovers for ten more shots while sinking a few more free throws.

Nick Mayo led the Colonels with 14 points, seven rebounds and four blocks on 5-18 from the field. Dujuanta Weaver and Lachlan Anderson gave EKU 12 points each and a combined 13 rebounds while Kelvin Robinson and Peyton Broughton tossed in nine points apiece.

Under is 6-2 in Northern Kentucky last 8 Saturday games and Northern Kentucky are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. Over is 7-3 in Eastern Kentucky last 10 non-conference games and Eastern Kentucky are 19-39-1 ATS in their last 59 home games.

If Northern Kentucky continues to play as they have the potential to cover is all theirs...

Pick:
Northern Kentucky -6

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
