The UT-Martin Skyhawks will travel to McBrayer Arena to take on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The UT-Martin Skyhawks lost their 6th straight game and dropped to 5-10 (0-4 OVC) on the season after being defeated by the Austin Peay Governors, 72-70, this past Saturday. In a tight back and forth game, UT-Martin had a chance to force OT, however, Kevin Little’s game-tying attempt was blocked by the Governors as time expired. UT-Martin allowed Austin Peay to shoot 58.0% from the field and was outrebounded by UT-Martin by a 35.27 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Skyhawks was Kevin Little who had 15 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal.

On the season, UT-Martin is averaging 77.1 ppg on 43.0% shooting from the field. The Skyhawks are averaging 8.0 three-pointers per game on 31.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UT-Martin has been led by Quintin Dove (12.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg), Preston Parks (12.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.2 apg, 1.5 spg), Derek Hawthorne Jr. (11.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.6 spg), and Kevin Little (10.7 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 4.2 apg, 1.4 spg).

Defensively, UT-Martin is allowing their opponents to average 81.5 ppg on 49.3% shooting from the field. The Skyhawks have a rebound margin of -2.5 and a turnover margin of 1.4.

The Eastern Kentucky Colonels lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 7-10 (0-4 OVC) on the season after being defeated by the Belmont Bruins, 109-93, this past Saturday. Eastern Kentucky struggled defensively against the Bruins and couldn’t fight back after Belmont took a 64-46 lead at halftime. Eastern Kentucky allowed Belmont to shoot 55.9% from the field and was outrebounded by the Bruins by a 48-27 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Colonels was Nick Mayo who had 26 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, and a steal.

On the season, Eastern Kentucky is averaging 85.3 ppg on 42.9% shooting from the field. The Colonels are averaging 9.1 three-pointers per game on 31.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Eastern Kentucky has been led by Nick Mayo (23.6 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.1 spg, 1.9 bpg), Jomaru Brown (12.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.6 spg), Dujuanta Weaver (10.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.3 spg), and Kelvin Robinson (7.4 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.2 spg).

Defensively, Eastern Kentucky is allowing their opponents to average 85.2 ppg on 48.1% shooting from the field. The Colonels have a rebound margin of -2.8 and a turnover margin of 4.3.

The Skyhawks are 7-20 ATS in their last 27 games overall and 0-8 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Colonels are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a straight up loss.

UT-Martin has lost 8 of their last 10 games and although their offense is currently ranked 100th in scoring offense, the Skyhawks have really struggled defensively this season as they rank just 341st in scoring defense & 343rd in defensive FG%. Eastern Kentucky has lost 6 of their last 7 games and similar to UT-Martin, they have a high scoring offense that ranks 15th in scoring offense, however, the Colonels defense currently ranks just 348th in scoring defense & 340th in defensive FG%.

UT-Martin was able to cash for us after covering at home in their recent game against Austin Peay, however, I don’t think there is any way I can trust the Skyhawks on the road, even agianst an Eastern Kentucky team that just gave up 107 points agianst Belmont. Eastern Kentucky has the best player on the court in Nick Mayo and as I think their offense is going to have a field day at home agianst the Skyhawks, I’m taking Eastern Kentucky to cover in this one and putting a small play on the over as this should be a high scoring game.

Pick:
Eastern Kentucky Colonels -6 / Over 172.5
