The Drexel Dragons kick off their college basketball season on the road with the Eastern Michigan Eagles.

The Drexel Dragons were well down the standings in the CAA in 2017-18 with a 9th place finish at 13-20. Drexel struggled defensively and were outscored 78.5-74.4 with opponents sinking shots at 46.2%.

The Dragons were not a strong offensive team a year ago so the transfer of leading scorer Tremaine Isabell with his 21 points and 7.5 rebounds is a blow. The Drexel back court is a strength with Kurk Lee and Troy Harper averaging 12.4 points and 10.1 points. Alihan Demir is the Dragons top big man at 6-9 with 10.7 points and 5.4 rebounds last season.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles enjoyed a strong 2017-18 campaign with a 22-13 record and a second place finish in the MAC West behind Toledo. Eastern Michigan averaged 71.7 points on 46.4% and gave up 66.8 points on just 40.4%.

The Eagles expect another good year with the majority of their contributors back including the top three scorers. Forward Elijah Minnie brings back a team high 16.8 points and 6.1 boards while center James Thompson IV averaged 14.5 points and 11. 2 rebounds followed by guard Paul Jackson with 14.9 points and 4.6 assists.

Drexel are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and Drexel  are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. Mid-American. Under is 8-1 in EMU last 9 home games and EMU are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall and under is 18-5 in EMU last 23 overall.

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
