The Kent State Golden Flashes and the Eastern Michigan Eagles meet in college basketball action from EMU Convocation Center on Tuesday.

Kent State comes in here at 17-8 on the year. After losing consecutive games to Ball State and Northern Illinois, the Golden Flashes won their last outing on Saturday versus Ohio.

In the win over the Bobcats, Kent State’s Troy Simons led the team on 27 points with two rebounds and two assists. Anthony Roberts added 21 points there, and Antonio Williams had 16 points, seven assists and three rebounds.

Over on the Eastern Michigan side, they’re 14-11 so far. After their last loss to Akron, the Eagles have since won consecutive games over Central Michigan and Western Michigan.

In the win over the Broncos, Eastern Michigan’s Boubacar Toure led the team on 17 points and six boards. Both Noah Morgan and Chris James added 15 points apiece there, and Morgan had two rebounds with one assist also.

Eastern Michigan is 31-18 ATS after a conference game over the last three seasons and 174-216 ATS as an underdog since 1997. The Eagles are 135-171 versus a team with a winning record since 1997 and 2-1 ATS versus Kent State over the last three seasons.

Kent State is 1-2 straight up versus Eastern Michigan over the last three seasons and two of three games in this series have gone over the total in the last three seasons.

Kent State went through an offensive lull in a couple of tough games versus Ball State and Northern Illinois, scoring just 54 points in each (they were within eight points in both games however). The Flashes got back to business with 87 against Ohio however.

As for Eastern Michigan, they’re more of a defense-oriented team, and seeing them on the other side of 70 points is more an exception than a rule these days. If the Eagles can come out and control this game early I think they have a good shot at a nice outing here. I’m going EMU.
