The Portland State Vikings will travel to Reese Court to take on the Eastern Washington Eagles this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Portland State Vikings won their 5th straight game and improved to 14-14 (9-8 Big Sky) on the season after defeating the Idaho Vandals, 67-65, this past Thursday. Portland State had a surprisingly tough time on the offensive end agianst the 4-24 Vandals, however, the Vikings were able to avoid the upset after fighting back from a 36-29 halftime deficit for the victory. Portland State won the game despite shooting just 36.7% from the field and 24.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Vikings was Holland Woods who had 17 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal.

On the season, Portland State is averaging 77.6 ppg on 42.6% shooting from the field. The Vikings are averaging 7.3 three-pointers per game on 31.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Portland State has been led by Holland Woods (15.0 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 5.4 apg, 1.4 spg), Michael Nuga (10.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg), Sal Nuhu (9.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.1 bpg), and Robert McCoy (7.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, Portland State is allowing their opponents to average 75.2 ppg on 46.3% shooting from the field. The Vikings have a rebound margin of 7.2 and a turnover margin of 0.9.

The Eastern Washington Eagles dropped to 11-17 (9-8 Big Sky) on the season after being defeated by the Sacramento State Hornets, 59-56, this past Thursday. Eastern Washington struggled offensively agianst the Hornets and couldn’t force OT after two FT’s by Marcus Graves gave Sacramento State a 59-56 lead with just :05 seconds left in regulation. Eastern Washington shot just 33.3% from the field and 30.4% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Eagles was Jesse Hunt who had 15 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 blocks.

On the season, Eastern Washington is averaging 71.1 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field. The Eagles are averaging 9.0 three-pointers per game on 34.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Eastern Washington has been led by Jesse Hunt (14.6 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 3.2 apg), Jacob Davison (14.6 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.1 spg), Mason Peatling (14.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.1 spg), and Tyler Kidd (9.9 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.2 spg).

Defensively, Eastern Washington is allowing their opponents to average 75.3 ppg on 45.7% shooting from the field. The Eagles have a rebound margin of -1.5 and a turnover margin of 0.1.

The Vikings are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Eagles are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games.

Portland State has won 8 of their last 11 games and come into this match-up ranked 65th in scoring offense, 271st in scoring defense, and 9th in rebound margin.

Eastern Washington has won 3 of their last 5 games and currently rank 225th in scoring offense, 59th in three-pointers made per game, and 273rd in scoring defense.

Portland State has been picking up a ton of victories lately, however, the majority of that success has been at home and it was concerning seeing the Vikings struggle so much against an Idaho team that has struggled all season. Eastern Washington is 8-4 at home this season and has won their last 4 home games agianst the Vikings and as I think the Eagles offense will have better success against the Vikings defense, I’m taking Eastern Washington to cover this mid-range home spread. Good Luck!

Pick:
Eastern Washington Eagles -5
