The Elon Phoenix won their 2nd straight game and improved to 8-15 (4-6 CAA) on the season after defeating the Delaware Blue Hens, 57-56, this past Thursday. In a tight, back and forth game, Elon was able to secure the victory at home after a Tyler Seibring hit the game-winning jumper for the Phoenix with just :04 seconds left in regulation. Elon held Delaware to just 38.3% shooting from the field and 25.0% from beyond the arc in the victory. The Dragons are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Phoenix are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. CAA opponents, however, just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games.
Drexel has lost 3 of their last 5 games and although their offense can put points up on the board as the Dragons rank 74th in scoring offense, Drexel’s defense has struggled this season as they currently rank just 322nd in scoring defense & 343rd in defensive FG%. Elon has won 3 of their last 4 games and although they rank just 266th in scoring offense & 278th in scoring defense, the Phoenix have done a decent job making three-pointers as they rank 18th in three-pointers made per game.
Drexel has an offensive that can put up points, however, this is a team that has struggled defensively and come into this game just 2-9 on the road this season. Elon statistics don’t jump out of you, however, they have a solid duo with Tyler Seibring & Steve Santa Ana and as they are playing some of their best basketball of the season over the last two weeks, I think the Phoenix will do enough at home to get the win. Take Elon and the point.
