The UNC Greensboro Spartans will travel to the Schar Center to take on the Elon Phoenix this Friday night in College Basketball action.
The UNC Greensboro Spartans had their 6-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 7-2 on the season after being defeated by the 10th ranked Kentucky Wildcats, 78-61, this past Saturday. UNC Greensboro gave Kentucky all they could handle and even held a 57-56 lead midway through the 2nd half, however, the offense struggled the rest of the which allowed the Wildcats to pull away for the double-digit victory. The Elon Phoenix dropped their 2nd straight game and dropped to 3-6 on the season after being defeated by the 25th ranked Furman Paladins, 98-77, this past Tuesday. Elon had no answers on the defensive end for the Paladins and couldn’t fight back after a 16-3 Furman run gave the Paladins an 87-64 lead with 4:48 left in regulation. Elon allowed Furman to shoot 56.7% from the field and 46.9% from beyond the arc in the loss. Furman was one of the more popular bets against Elon this week and I’m surprised that even though the Spartans are favored by a few more points, that the early money is on the Phoenix. UNC Greensboro in my opinion is as good if not better than the Paladins and their only two losses this season have come in competitive games agianst LSU & Kentucky. Elon Ranks T-278th in scoring offense & 256th in scoring defense and as I see UNC Greensboro dominating on both ends of the court, I think they win this one by about 15-20 and cover this spread.
