The North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks butt heads with the Elon Phoenix in the CAA quarterfinals in Saturday college basketball.

The North Carolina-Wilmington dropped three straight to end the year with a 70-61 defeat at the Charleston Cougars as a nine point underdog.

Devontae Cacok topped the Seahawks with 16 points and 18 rebounds followed by Ty Gadsden who tossed in another 15 points.

UNCW received eight points and four pulls from Jaylen Fornes and Jay Estime’ while Jeantal Cylla who chipped in with seven points and two yanks.

North Carolina-Wilmington won once in the final month of the season and that had the team looking up from the conference basement.

The Elon Phoenix  ended  the regular  season  with two  wins in a row after routing Towson 86-66 as a 4.5 point road underdog.

Steven Santa Ana starred for the Phoenix, pouring in a game high 34 points with ten rebounds and nine helpers with Tyler Seibring adding 16 points and four pulls.

Andy Pack gave Elon 12 points and four boards followed by Sheldon Eberhardt and Nathan Priddy with eight and six points.

The Phoenix finished well down in the conference standings in 7thbut the team proved to be very dangerous with wins in three of four to end the year and numerous close defeats.

UNCW Seahawks are 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall and  are 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 vs. Colonial Athletic Association and  are 1-4-2 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games.

Elon Phoenix are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games following a ATS win and  are 7-20 ATS in their last 27 neutral site games and  are 6-23 ATS in their last 29 games following a straight up win.

Underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.

Neither team has a decent record but Elon has shown some potential and are getting points…
