The Ball State Cardinals and the Evansville Purple Aces meet in college basketball action from the Ford Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Ball State Cardinals come into this game looking to add to their current 5-game winning streak after a 75-69 win over Loyola-Chicago in their last outing. K.J. Walton led the Cardinals with 22 points on 11 of 14 shooting while Tahjai Teague chipped in 14 points and a team-high 9 rebounds. Tayler Persons and Zach Gunn each had 12 points to round out the foursome of double-digit scorers for Ball State in the win, with Persons dishing out a team-high 5 assists while Gunn shot 4 of 6 from 3-point range in the victory. Persons leads Ball State with an average of 16.9 points and 5.3 assists per game while Teague leads the Cardinals on the glass with 6.6 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Ball State is averaging 81.1 points per game on 50.4% shooting from the field, 38.6% from behind the arc and 71.4% from the foul line this season.
The Evansville Purple Aces will look to rebound from an 87-77 loss to Arkansas State in their last outing to fall back to .500 this season. Shea Feehan led the Aces with 21 points on 6 of 13 shooting with 4 threes while Marty Hill added 16 points and a team-high 6 rebounds. K.J. Riley came right behind with 15 points along with a team-high 5 assists to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Evansvills in the losing effort. Feehan leads Evansville in scoring with 13.8 points per game while Riley leads the Purple Aces with 3 assists per game and John Hall leads Evansville in rebounding with 7.6 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Evansville is averaging 77.8 points per game on 44% shooting from the field, 36.2% from behind the 3-point line and 70.6% from the foul line this season.
Ball State is 14-6 ATS in their last 20 Sunday games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall. Evansville is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 non-conference games.
Laying points on the road is tricky, considering that Evansville is a solid team at home and we don’t have many trends to go on for Ball State. However, Ball State has won back-to-back games on the road already and also have a win over this same Evansville team a couple of weeks ago by 10 points. It’s hard to sweep a team in the same season, but I think Ball State can get the job done and add to their winning streak so I’ll lay the points with Ball State here.
