Evansville Purple Aces +2 O/U: 132.5
The Southern Illinois Salukis and the Evansville Purple Aces will meet up on the college basketball court Wednesday.
Southern Illinois comes in here at 15-14 this year. The Salukis are 3-2 in the last five games, falling to Drake and Valparaiso while beating Evansville, Indiana State and Loyola IL in that time.
In the win over the Ramblers, Southern Illinois’ top scorer was Armon Fletcher with 18 points and seven rebounds. Kavion Pippen added 12 points and nine boards for the Salukis there, and Aaron Cook put up 11 points.
Over on the Evansville side, they’re 10-19 this year. The Aces have lost their last six straight games, dropping to Indiana State, Southern Illinois, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, Loyola IL and Bradley in succession.
In the loss to the Braves, Evansville’s top scorer was KJ Riley with 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists. The only other Aces player in double-figures in that game was Shea Feehan with 11 points and two rebounds.
The Salukis are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 Wednesday games and 1-4 ATS in the last five versus a team with a losing straight-up record. Southern Illinois is 1-5 ATS in their last six after a straight-up win and 1-6 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Aces are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 after a straight up loss and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 overall. Evansville is 1-5 ATS in the last six games and 0-5 ATS in their last five Wednesday games.
The last time these teams met up was a 78-73 home win for Southern IL back on February 9, so this one should be another close game. That said, the Salukis really aren’t doing it for me on the scoreboard right now; they’ve put up fewer than 70 points in three of their last four games.
All of that said, the Salukis are still scoring better than Evansville, who are in a real rut with 61 or fewer in each of their last four. I’m going with Southern Illinois on a road cover here.
