The Line: Evansville Purple Aces -3 -- Over/Under: 130.5
The Valparaiso Crusaders go on the road to oppose the Evansville Purple Aces in a MVC college basketball tilt.
The Valparaiso Crusaders are near the bottom of the conference standings and look to move up a few positions before the postseason begins. Valparaiso comes off of a 65-59 loss at the Southern Illinois where both teams sank shots at 49% with the Salukis holding a 14-5 advantage at the stripe.
Tevonn Walker kept the Crusaders within striking distance with 16 points and five assists on 6-12 from the floor and 3-6 at the stripe. Markus Golder and Bakari Evelyn gave Valpo 13 points apiece and a combined 15 rebounds on 10-23 shooting while Derrik Smits chipped in with seven points.
The Evansville Purple Aces have an opportunity to crack the top four in the Missouri Valley but losses have to be held to a minimum going forward. Evansville was heading in the right direction with three wins in a row before a 75-71 defeat at Illinois State with the Redbirds sinking more free throws to win.
The Purple Aces offense revolved around Ryan Taylor and everyone else with Taylor leading all scorers with 32 points and six boards on 10-22 from the floor including 8-12 from distance. Noah Frederlng and Blake Simmons gave Evansville nine points each while Dainius Chatkevicius added eight points and 14 rebounds.
Valparaiso are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and Valparaiso are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Missouri Valley. Evansville are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 home games. Over is 5-2 in Evansville last 7 overall and over is 5-2 in Evansville last 7 vs. Missouri Valley.
The home team seems to come up big in these toss up type matchups in the MVC and I lean that way here…
