Saturday college basketball brings us to the MAAC where the Fairfield Stags host the Monmouth Hawks.

The Monmouth Hawks have taken over first in the MAAC after a 53-51 victory at Saint Peter’s gave the team a third consecutive win.

This was close throughout with Saint Peter’s holding a 38.1%-29.8% shooting edge but Monmouth won by hitting 12 more free throws.

Marcus McClary was the top scorer for the Hawks with 13 points and four pulls with Diago Quinn adding ten points and three yanks.

Monmouth saw nine points and eight rebounds from Nick Rutherford followed by Mustapha Traore with nine points and four boards.

The  Fairfield Stags  are  looking for  more  scoring punch  after  falling 61-50 at Siena on Monday as a 4.5 point underdog.

Fairfield trailed 38-32 at the halfway mark but couldn’t comeback with 18 second half points behind 40.8% from the field and one foul shot.

Landon Taliaferro was the Stags top weapon with 14 points with Wassef  Metnani  adding 12  points  and seven  rebounds.

Fairfield received seven points and three yanks from Jonathan Kasibabu followed by Taj Benning and Jason Cruz netting five points with nine boards.

Monmouth Hawks are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall and Monmouth Hawks are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. Metro Atlantic Athletic.
