The Oakland Golden Grizzlies and Fairfield Stags continue their non-conference college basketball schedule on Wednesday.
The Oakland Golden Grizzlies have followed a two game winning streak with three straight defeats following a 73-63 loss at Xavier as a 17 point road dog on Saturday. Both teams connected at around 45% but Oakland fell short at the line where the Musketeers held a 19-2 advantage.
Xavier Hill-Mais kept the Golden Grizzlies in the game with a contest high 30 points with eight rebounds and two blocks on 13-21 marksmanship. Oakland received 14 points and eight assists from Braden Norris on 5-8 from the floor including four long balls followed Jaevin Cumberland and Karmari Newman with a combined 17 points.
The Fairfield Stags have played numerous close games but have come out on the losing side and that trend continued in a 63-60 loss at Army on Saturday. Fairfield was down eleven at the half and a late rally came up short with 35.1% shooting and 20 turnovers not being enough versus the Black Knights 35.7% accuracy.
Neftali Alverez topped the Stags offense with 14 points three assists and four steals on 5-15 from the field and 3-4 at the line. Wassef Methnani gave Fairfield 12 points and ten rebounds on 4-9 from the floor before fouling out in 17 minutes while Jesus Cruz, Jonathan Kasibabu and Taj Benning contributed seven points apiece.
Oakland Golden Grizzlies are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games overall and over is 9-2 in Oakland Golden Grizzlies last 11 non-conference games and under is 13-3 in Oakland Golden Grizzlies last 16 road games. I don’t think these teams are far enough apart to lay points so I’ll back the Golden Grizzlies…
