Fairfield Stags -3.5 -- Over/Under: 139.5
The Siena Saints and the Fairfield Stags meet in college basketball MAAC-tion from the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard on Thursday night.
The Siena Saints will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 4 games following a 66-57 win over Niagara in their last outing. Jalen Pickett led Siena with 17 points on 5 of 11 shooting with a team-high 7 assists while Evan Fisher and Kadeem Smithen each had 13 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Siena in the win with Fisher adding 6 rebounds and 3 assists while Smithen added a pair of threes and a pair of steals. Kevin Degnan added 9 points and 7 boards while Manny Camper contributed 6 points and a team-high 11 rebounds as well in the victory. Fisher leads Siena with an average of 16.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while Pickett leads the Saints in assists with 7.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Siena is averaging 65 points per game on 44.3% shooting from the field, 35% from behind the arc and 61.7% from the foul line this season.
The Fairfield Stags will be eager to snap a 3-game losing streak after a 73-68 loss to Canisius in their last outing. Jesus Cruz led the Stags with 21 points on 9 of 14 shooting with 6 rebounds while Jonathan Kasibabu had 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for the double-double. Neftali Alvarez added 11 points and a team-high 3 assists to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Fairfield in the losing effort. Landon Taliaferro was held to just 5 points on 2 of 13 shooting but still leads the Stags with an average of 12.5 points per game while Kasibabu leads Fairfield in rebounding with 8.2 rebounds per game and Alvarez leads the Stags in assists with 3.4 assists per game this season. As a team, Fairfield is averaging 71.7 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field, 37% from behind the arc and 69.1% from the foul line this season.
Siena is 5-13-1 ATS in their last 19 conference games and 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games following a win while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record. Fairfield is 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 conference games. The home team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
Neither of these two are teams I’d feel very good siding with in this matchup considering that Fairfield has struggled a lot as of late and Siena has had major issues ATS when it comes to following up a win. However, while the home team has had a lot of success, Siena has gone 6-2 ATS on the road this season, and already have a road win over Marist in conference play this season. There’s much better options on Thursday’s card, but if you feel compelled to pick this game, I’d take Siena and the points here.
