The Saint Peter’s Peacocks and the Fairfield Stags meet in college basketball MAAC-tion from Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard on Thursday night.

The Saint Peter’s Peacocks will look to bounce back with their first road win of the season after falling to Monmouth by a final score of 61-44 in their last outing. Dallas Watson led the Peacocks with 13 points on 4 of 8 shooting with a pair of threes while Davauhnte Turner added 12 points as the only other Saint Peter’s player to score in double figures in the losing effort. KC Ndefo added a team-high 7 rebounds and a pair of blocks while Quinn Taylor added 4 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Turner leads Saint Peter’s with an average of 17.3 points and 3.1 assists per game while Taylor leads the Peacocks on the glass with 5.7 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Saint Peter’s is averaging 64.5 points per game on 42.1% shooting from the field, 33.6% from behind the 3-point line and 69.4% from the foul line this season.

The Fairfield Stags will look to build on a 77-59 win over Niagara in their last outing. Jonathan Kasibabu led the Stags with 20 points on 10 of 14 shooting with a game-high 14 rebounds for the double-double while Neftali Alvarez added 15 points with 6 rebounds and Jesus Cruz added 13 points and 9 boards to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for Fairfield in the win. Aidas Kavaliauskas added 6 points with a team-high 10 assists as well in the victory. Landon Taliaferro added 8 points but still leads the Stags in scoring with 13.7 points per game while Kasibabu leads Fairfield on the glass with 7.7 rebounds per game and Alvarez leads the Stags in assists with 3.7 assists per game this season. As a team, Fairfield is averaging 73.3 points per game on 44.7% shooting from the field, 38.3% from behind the 3-point line and 73.5% from the foul line this season.

Saint Peter’s is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 conference games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 37-14-1 in their last 52 road games. Fairfield is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 conference games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 home games. Saint Peter’s is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

Fairfield shut me up against Niagara and have been playing some of their better basketball ATS as of late. On the other hand, Saint Peter’s has a history of playing the rest of the MAAC tough and has had success in this matchup. I just don’t know if we are getting enough points with the Peacocks and I don’t feel overly comfortable laying points with Fairfield without a larger sample size. Instead, I’m going to side with the under. Usually when these two teams meet, one side struggles to hit 60 points and while both sides have found an offensive groove lately, I think defense rules the day here so I’ll side with the under in this spot.
