FIU Panthers -9.5 O/U: 152.5
The Charlotte 49ers and the FIU Panthers will match up on the college basketball court Thursday.
Charlotte comes into this one at 3-10 on the season. The 49ers last beat East Carolina on December 18, and since have fallen to TCU, Rhode Island, Colorado, Western Kentucky and Marshall.
In the loss to the Herd, Charlotte’s top scorer was Jon Davis with 37 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Milos Supica added 23 points, five rebounds and three assists for the 49ers there, and Bo Blight hauled in 10 rebounds.
Over on the Florida International side, they’re currently 10-5 this year. The Panthers are just 2-3 in their last five games however, beating FL Memorial and Middle Tennessee with losses to South Florida, Ohio and UAB.
In the loss to the Blazers, FIU’s top scorer was Devon Andrews, with 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists. The only other Panther in double-figures there was Antonio Daye with 13 points, three rebounds and two assists.
The 49ers are 16-35 ATS in their last 51 overall and 15-36 ATS in the last 51 road games. Charlotte is 4-11 ATS in their last 15 versus CUSA and 0-4 ATS in their last four Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last six Thursday games and 2-5 ATS in the last seven home games. FIU is also 2-6 ATS in the last eight versus CUSA and 9-3 ATS in the last 12 after a straight-up loss.
Charlotte has been in a real offensive funk this season, but they did show some life versus Marshall with 84 points—the trouble is, the 49ers gave up 85 on the other side.
FIU isn’t exactly the model of consistency on offense either, but they’ve finished on the far side of 70 points a lot more often this year. I’m going to stick with the Panthers on the cover.
