Louisiana Tech at FIU
|Date & Time||Saturday February 2, 2019, 7:00 PM (EST)|
FIU Panthers +3 O/U: 156.5
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the FIU Panthers will meet up in college basketball action on Saturday.
The Bulldogs enter this game with a 15-8 record overall. Following consecutive wins over Marshall and Western Kentucky, Louisiana Tech dropped their last game versus Florida Atlantic on Thursday.
In the loss to the Owls, Louisiana Tech’s Amorie Archibald led the way on 18 points, four rebounds and one assist. DaQuan Brace added 14 points for the Bulldogs in that one, and Oliver Powell chipped in 10 points.
Over on the FIU side, they’re 13-9 this season. The Panthers have lost three of their last four games, taking out Florida Atlantic and falling to Marshall, Florida Atlantic and Southern Miss in that stretch.
In the loss to the Eagles, FIU’s Willy Nunez led the team on 21 points and four rebounds. Devon Andrews would add 13 points there, while Antonio Daye and Osasumwen Osaghae each posted 12 points with a combined four assists and 10 rebounds.
The Bulldogs are 5-0 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 versus CUSA. Louisiana Tech is 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Panthers are 5-2 ATS in the last seven after a straight-up loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. The over is 5-1 in FIU’s last six Saturday games and 7-2 in the last nine home games.
Louisiana Tech came out pretty flat against an Owls team they should have handled better, falling behind 28-23 at the break on the way to a 69-61 defeat. That continues a trend of meager scoring outings for the Bulldogs recently, so the O/U line in this one seems a little inflated.
That said, FIU has been in some pretty heavy-scoring games as of late, and this one will probably trickle up into the 70s on both sides. I think there’s room here for an FIU cover—and maybe an outright win as well.
