The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will travel to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center to take on the FIU Golden Panthers this Sunday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs had their 3-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 18-11 (8-8 C-USA) on the season after being defeated by the Marshall Thundering Herd, 90-79, this past Thursday. Louisiana Tech had no answers on the defensive end for the high-scoring Marshall offense and couldn’t fight back after Marshall took a 66-50 lead with 13:02 left in regulation. Louisiana Tech allowed Marshall to shoot 50.9% from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was DaQuan Bracey who had 26 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and a steal.

On the season, Louisiana Tech is averaging 73.3 ppg on 43.9% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 7.6 three-pointers per game on 32.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Louisiana Tech has been led by DaQuan Bracey (15.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 4.1 apg, 1.3 spg), Anthony Duruji (12.3 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.3 bpg), Amorie Archibald (10.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 apg), and JaColby Pemberton (10.0 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.3 apg).

Defensively, Louisiana Tech is holding their opponents to an average of 67.9 ppg on 43.0% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 1.7 and a turnover margin of 1.8.

The FIU Golden Panthers won their 3rd straight game and improved to 17-11 (8-7 C-USA) on the season after defeating the FAU Owls, 79-76, on February 23rd.  FIU led by a 38-26 margin at halftime and although FAU was able to fight back and take a lead in the 2nd half, FIU was able to recover and pulled away after taking a 73-68 lead with just :36 seconds left in regulation. FIU held FAU to just 33.3% from the field and 32.1% from beyond the arc in the win. Leading the way for the Golden Panthers was Brian Beard Jr. who had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals.

On the season, FIU is averaging 84.0 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field. The Golden Panthers are averaging 8.9 three-pointers per game on 31.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, FIU has been led by Brian Beard Jr. (17.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 6.2 apg, 3.1 spg), Devon Andrews (15.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.6 spg), Trejon Jacob (10.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.1 spg), and Antonio Daye Jr. (9.1 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.6 spg).

Defensively, FIU is allowing their opponents to average 80.6 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field. The Golden Panthers have a rebound margin of -7.5 and a turnover margin of 6.1.

The Bulldogs are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Golden Panthers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Sunday games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win.

Louisiana Tech has lost 4 of their last 7 games and come into this game ranked T-162nd in scoring offense, 80th in scoring defense, and 130th in defensive FG%.

FIU Golden Panthers have won 4 of their last 6 games and although their defense comes into this game ranked T-341st in scoring defense, FIU has been solid offensively as they currently rank T-10th in scoring offense & 56th in assists per game.

Louisiana Tech is a decent team, however, the Bulldogs have struggled much more against opponents who know how to score the basketball as shown with their recent loss agianst Marshall and their 75-69 loss to FIU earlier this season. FIU gives up a bunch of points, however, that’s more due to their fast paced style and as the Golden Panthers have won their last 3 home games against the Bulldogs, I’m taking FIU and the points. Good Luck.

FIU Golden Panthers +1.5
