We have some college basketball action out of the ACC as the #11 Clemson Tigers battle the Florida State Seminoles on Wednesday night.

The #11 Clemson Tigers will be looking to add to their current 4 game winning streak after a 72-48 rout of Pitt in their last outing. Gabe DeVoe led the Tigers with 25 points on 9 of 16 shooting with 7 triples, while Shelton Mitchell chipped in 12 points on 4 of 9 shooting with 3 threes and Elijah Thomas added 10 points with 11 rebounds and 3 blocks for the double-double to round out the trio of double digit scorers for Clemson in the win. Marcquise Reed added 4 points with a team high 7 assists as well in the winning effort for the Tigers. Reed leads Clemson in scoring with 15.4 points per game while Thomas leads the Tigers on the glass with 7.5 rebounds per game and Mitchell leads Clemson in the assist department with 3.9 assists per game this season. As a team, Clemson is scoring 75 points per game on 46.6% shooting from the field, 38.2% from behind the arc and 75.4% from the foul line this season.

The Florida State Seminoles will be looking to rebound after back-to-back conference losses, including an 84-69 setback at the hands of Notre Dame in their last outing. CJ Walker led FSU with 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting with 4 threes, while Phil Cofer added 12 points and PJ Savoy added 11 points to round out the trio of double digit scorers for the Seminoles in the loss. Terance Mann added 5 points with 8 rebounds, while Trent Forrest added 6 points with team-highs of 4 assists, 3 steals and a pair of blocks in the losing effort. Mann leads Florida State with an average of 14.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while Forrest is the Seminoles’ top assist man, dishing out 3.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Florida State is scoring 82.9 points per game on 47.1% shooting from the field, 36.2% from behind the arc and 68.9% from the foul line this season.

Clemson is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record while the over is 8-3 in their last 11 games overall. Florida State is 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 home games and 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 Wednesday games. The home team is 3-0-1 ATS in the last 4 meetings.

I went back and forth on this game, as Clemson is the hotter team, but they’ve struggled on the road, while Florida State hasn’t looked good in back-to-back outings, and the loss to an average-at-best Notre Dame team was an eye-opener. However, although FSU has lost back-to-back home games, it’s kind of forgivable as those two losses came to Virginia (who at this time is the top team in the country) and a solid North Carolina team. The previous 3 outings saw the Seminoles break the century mark twice, and while I don’t see them scoring 100, I see the Seminoles doing enough to get the win so I’ll lay the bucket here.

Florida State -2.5
