The Florida State Seminoles hope to avoid the upset bid of the Troy Trojans in non-conference college basketball action.
The Troy Trojans saw a modest two game winning streak end in 79-74 overtime defeat to Austin Peay on Thursday. Austin Peay held a slight 42.9%-39.7% shooting edge with an 11-4 advantage from beyond the arc.
Jordan Varnado and Javan Johnson kept the Trojans in contention with 14 points each and a combined nine boards on 11-25 from the floor. Alex Hicks gave Troy 12 points and 12 rebounds on 6-13 shooting while Darian Adams and BJ Miller combined for 20 points.
The Florida State Seminoles rebounded from their first loss to Villanova by squeezing by Purdue 73-72 on Wednesday. Florida State led by 12 heading to the locker room before surviving a second half Boilermakers rally. Both teams sank shots at 43% with the Seminoles saving themselves with a 17-20 performance at the line.
MJ Walker was the Noles lone double digit scorer with 13 points on 4-11 from the floor while Terance Mann, Trent Forrest, PJ Savoy and David Nichols contributed nine points apiece. Christ Koumadje, Mfiondu Kabengele and Raiquan Gray gave Florida State seven points each for the very definition of a balanced offense.
