The Missouri Tigers and the Florida Gators meet in SEC college basketball action from the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Missouri Tigers will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 66-58 defeat at the hands of Kentucky in their last outing. Ronnie Suggs led the Tigers with 13 points on 5 of 9 shooting with 3 threes while Jordan Geist added 11 points with 6 rebounds, a team-high 4 assists and a pair of steals as the only other Missouri player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Jeremiah Tilmon added 6 points with a team-high 7 rebounds as well in the defeat. Geist leads Missouri with an average of 14.1 points and 3.2 assists per game this season while Tilmon leads the Tigers in rebounding with 5.8 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Missouri is averaging 67.6 points per game on 42.9% shooting from the field, 36.8% from behind the arc and 70.1% from the foul line this season.
The Florida Gators will look to build on their current 3-game winning streak after an 82-77 overtime win over LSU last time out. KeVaughn Allen led the Gators with 21 points on 6 of 12 shooting with 5 threes while Noah Locke and Jalen Hudson each had 15 points with 5 threes. Kevarrius Hayes added 10 points on a perfect shooting night, going 4 of 4 from the floor with a pair of free throws along with a team-high 7 rebounds and a pair of blocks to round out the quartet of double-digit scorers for Florida in the winning effort. Andrew Nembhard matched his 8 points with a team-high 8 assists and 3 steals as well in the victory for Florida. Allen leads Florida in scoring with 12.9 points per game while Hayes leads the Gators in rebounding with 6 boards per game and Nembhard leads Florida in assists with 5.4 assists per game this season. As a team, Florida is averaging 68.9 points per game on 42.1% shooting from the field, 34.1% from behind the arc and 70.9% from the foul line this season.
Missouri is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win while the under is 13-6 in their last 19 games following an ATS win. Florida is 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 home games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 conference games. Missouri is 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Both of these teams are hard to get a feel for as of late, but even still, I’m baffled as to how Florida is a double-digit favorite here. I get that Missouri hasn’t been great on the road and hasn’t had much luck in this matchup, but Florida can’t cover the number at home if their lives depended on it right now, and Missouri did just hang around with some tough competition, duking it out with the likes of Kentucky in their last outing. I’ll take a shot with Missouri here as this just feels like too many points to be laying with a Florida team that has trouble putting teams away.
