The Saint Joseph’s Hawks lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 11-16 (4-10 A-10) on the season after being defeated by the UMass Minutemen, 80-79, this past Saturday. Saint Joseph’s led by a 54-37 margin at halftime, however, the Hawks struggled on both ends in the 2nd half and allowed UMass to get the dramatic come from behind victory after Carl Pierre hit a game-winning jumper for UMass with just 2.7 seconds left in regulation. Saint Joseph’s allowed UMass to shoot 57.4% from the field and 47.6% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Hawks was Chris Clover who had 19 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal.
On the season, Saint Joseph’s is averaging 70.0 ppg on 41.0% shooting from the field. The Hawks are averaging 8.8 three-pointers per game on 33.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Saint Joseph’s has been led by Charlie Brown Jr. (19.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.0 spg), Lamarr Kimble (16.2 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.0 spg), Jared Bynum (11.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.3 spg), and Taylor Funk (8.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.5 apg). Saint Joseph’s will be without Lamarr Kimble who is out indefinitely with a hand injury.
Defensively, Saint Joseph’s is allowing their opponents to average 72.8 ppg on 44.6% shooting from the field. The Hawks have a rebound margin of -2.2 and a turnover margin of 1.3.
The Fordham Rams lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 11-16 (2-12 A-10) on the season after being defeated by the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, 74-53, this past Saturday. Fordham had no answers on the offensive end against the Bonnies and couldn’t fight back after St. Bonaventure took a 51-31 lead with 11:49 left in the 2nd half. Fordham shot just 36.5% from the field and 31.3% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Rams was Jalen Cobb who had 12 points, 4 rebounds, and a steal.
On the season, Fordham is averaging 67.8 ppg on 41.4% shooting from the field. The Rams are averaging 9.0 three-pointers per game on 34.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Fordham has been led by Nick Honor (16.0 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 3.0 apg), Antwon Portley (11.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 3.1 apg), Jalen Cobb (10.2 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.4 spg), and Jesse Bunting (6.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg).
Defensively, Fordham is holding their opponents to an average of 67.3 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Rams have a rebound margin of -2.9 and a turnover margin of 2.9.
The Hawks are 21-10-1 ATS in their last 32 Wednesday games, however, are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Rams are 11-23-1 ATS in their last 35 games vs. A-10 opponents and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games.
Saint Joseph’s has lost 4 of their last 5 games and currently rank 257th in scoring offense, 319th in FG%, and 220th in scoring defense.
Fordham has lost 13 of their last 15 games and although heir defense has been decent as it ranks 71st in scoring defense, the Rams have really struggled offensively as they come into this match-up ranked 296th in scoring offense and 312th in FG%.
It’s been a struggle for Saint Joseph’s since losing Lamarr Kimble as although they still have a solid duo in Charlie Brown Jr. & Jared Bynum, the Hawks have really struggled offensively this season. Fordham has topped just 70 points twice in their last 15 games and haven’t fared well in this match-up as of late, as the Rams have been defeated by Saint Joseph’s in 5 of their last 6 games. Fordham is 0-7 at home in A-10 play this season and although it’s hard to trust the Hawks, they were impressive in a recent 91-61 victory against St. Louis and I think Saint Joseph’s will do enough in this one to cover this small road spread. Good Luck!
