The Long Beach State 49ers and the Fresno State Bulldogs meet in college basketball action from the Save Mart Center on Saturday night.

The Long Beach State 49ers will be looking for their first road win of the year after an 82-71 win over Southern Utah in their last outing. Deishuan Booker led LB State with 21 points on 5 of 9 shooting with a 10 of 11 mark from the foul line along with a team-high 4 assists. Temidayo Yussuf added 19 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double while Edon MAxhuni chipped in 11 points and Bryan Alberts added 10 points to finish off the foursome of double-digit scorers for Long Beach State in the winning effort. Booker leads the 49ers with an average of 15.6 points and 3.9 assists while Yussuf leads Long Beach State in rebounding with 6.6 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Long Beach state is averaging 71.4 points per game on 39.9% shooting from the field, 33.2% from behind the arc and 67.7% from the foul line this season.

The Fresno State Bulldogs will be looking to build o their current 4-game winning streak following a 71-52 win over Weber State in their last outing. Braxton Huggins led the Bulldogs with 17 points along with 7 rebounds while Noah Blackwell came right behind with 16 points on 5 of 10 shooting with 3 triples. Nate Grimes added 14 points on 7 of 11 shooting with 7 rebounds while Lazaro Rojas chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds to round out the quartet of double-digit scorers for the Bulldogs in the win. Deshon Taylor chipped in 9 points with team-highs of 8 rebounds and 5 assists as well in the victory. Huggins leads Fresno State in scoring with 18.8 points per game while Grimes leads the Bulldogs in rebounding with 7.4 rebounds per game and Taylor leads Fresno State in assists with 5.1 assists per game this season. As a team, Fresno State is averaging 77.6 points per game on 46.1% shooting from the field, 38.6% from behind the arc and 75% from the foul line this season.

Long Beach State is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games against the Mountain West while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games following a win. Fresno State is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games while the under is 11-5 in their last 16 home games.

Fresno State is a solid team at home and I’m confident in saying that the Bulldogs will win this game. However, laying double-digits with Fresno State isn’t something I necessarily want to do, even at home, as the Bulldogs have had a couple of close calls against average competition lately, including a 3-point overtime win over Pacific and a 9-point win against Cal Poly. Long Beach State hasn’t won away from home this year, but they did lose by just 4 points against a very good San Diego team and hung around for a while with USC before falling by 10, and I think the 49ers can keep this one close too so I’ll take a chance with Long Beach State and the points in this one.

Long Beach State +11.5
