The Citadel Bulldogs are eyeing a road upset of the Furman Paladins in a SoCon college basketball matchup.
The Citadel Bulldogs opened conference play with a 112-81 defeat at Wofford as a 14.5 point underdog. The Citadel were in this game until the Terriers 65-40 second half run with Wofford holding a 67.2%-44.3% shooting advantage.
The Bulldogs saw Zane Najdawi lead the offense with 18 points and five boards on 6-12 shooting while Alex Reed added 16 points and five rebounds on 5-9 accuracy. Lew Stallworth gave the Citadel 14 points, three yanks and five assists on 6-10 from the field followed by Tyler Burgess with 13 points on 4-8.
The Furman Paladins evened their conference mark at 1-1 following a 71-58 victory against Mercer as an eight point home favorite on Thursday.
Furman was up by nine points at the intermission and held the Bears at bay behind a 46.3%-36.2% shooting advantage.
Matt Rafferty topped a balanced Paladins offense with 19 points, ten rebounds and three steals on 6-9 marksmanship. Jordan Lyons and Noah Gurley gave Furman eleven points apiece with Gurley logging six boards followed by a ten point effort from Alex Hunter.
Citadel are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall and over is 8-3 in Citadel last 11 road games. Furman are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 vs. Southern and Furman are 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 home games.
