Timmons Arena and the Furman Paladins host the UNC-Greensboro Spartans in Wednesday college basketball action.
The UNC-Greensboro Spartans have been trying to secure their spot atop the SoCon with wins in six of seven after knocking off the VMI Keydets 73-51 as a 17 point home favorite. UNC-Greensboro took a 23 point lead at the break and were never challenged behind 40.9% shooting and 20 more shots.
Marvin Smith led a balanced Spartans offense with 13 points on 4-11 from the floor including 3-9 from distance followed by James Dickey with 12 points and ten rebounds on 4-7 shooting. UNC-Greensboro received eleven points and five pulls from Isaiah Miller on 5-7 from the field while Jordy Kuiper tossed in ten points.
The Furman Paladins are one of the challengers in the SoCon and have to keep winning to stay in the top four. Furman comes off of a 100-92, overtime defeat at the Citadel Bulldogs as a 12.5 point road favorite. The Paladins were outshot 49.2%-45.8% but stayed close with nine more shots.
Furman had plenty of options offensively with the twosome of Devin Sibley and James Davis II netting 18 points apiece and combining for nine boards followed by Matt Rafferty with 14 points and eight rebounds. The Paladins saw Jordan Lyons toss in 12 points while Daniel Fowler added ten points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Over is 24-7 in UNCG last 31 road games. Under is 6-2 in Furman last 8 home games and Furman are 28-11-1 ATS in their last 40 home games. UNCG are 2-7 ATS in the last 9 meetings in Furman and home team is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings.
