Furman Paladins -20 O/U: 147
The VMI Keydets and the Furman Paladins will match up on the college basketball circuit Saturday.
VMI is sitting at 7-18 on the year. The Keydets have dropped their last six games, falling to Mercer, the Citadel, UNCG, Chattanooga, Samford and Wofford during that stretch.
In the loss to Wofford, VMI’s top scorer was Bubba Parham with 30 points, four rebounds and two assists. Myles Lewis chipped in 22 points with two rebounds and one assist for the Keydets in that game, and Sarju Patel had 14 points.
Over on the Furman side, they’re 21-5 this year. The Paladins are currently riding a five-game win streak, beating the Citadel, Mercer, WCU, East Tennessee State and UNCG in that time.
In the win over the Spartans, Furman forward Matt Rafferty led the team on 26 points with 10 rebounds and two assists. The only other Paladin in double-figures there was Jordan Lyons with 22 points, three rebounds and three assists.
The Keydets are 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight after a straight-up loss. VMI is 5-17 ATS in their last 22 after an ATS win and the over is 5-0 in their last five after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Paladins are 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win and 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS win. Furman is 5-0 ATS in their last five overall and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 versus the Southern.
VMI’s losing streak looks pretty bad on paper—and it is—but the silver lining is that they’re still scoring pretty well overall. The Keydets had put up at least 70 points in four of their last five games.
Furman is kind of hit-and-miss with their points totals these days, but I don’t see a whole lot of difficulties in the Paladins holding the Keydets at bay here. I’ll take Furman on the cover.
