The Line: Furman Paladins -18 -- Over/Under: 143
The Western Carolina Catamounts and the Furman Paladins will meet up in college basketball action on Saturday.
Western Carolina stumbles into this one at 2-6 on the season. The Catamounts’ wins have come against Hiwassee and Jacksonville, but they’ve fallen to Wright State, Charleston, SMU, JSU, Southern Miss and Wake Forest this year.
In the Wake game, WCU’s Matt Halvorsen posted 19 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Carlos Dotson doubled up on a nice line with 14 points, 16 rebounds and three assists.
Over on the Furman side, they’re a smooth 7-0 this year. The Paladins have dispatched Bob Jones, Loyola, Gardner-Webb, North Greenville, Villanova, Southern Wesleyan and UNC Asheville this season in succession.
In the Bulldogs matchup, the Paladins were led by Matt Rafferty’s double-double on 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. The only other Furman player in double-figures was Jordan Lyons with 18 points and three boards.
WCU is 4-1 ATS in their last five following a straight-up loss and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 following an ATS win. The Catamounts are also 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven versus the Southern.
Meanwhile, the Paladins are 4-0 ATS in their last four Saturday games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight versus the Southern. Furman is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 overall and 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 home games.
The Catamounts’ record this year looks pretty bad, and they’ve been beaten up pretty badly in their losses for the most part this year.
As for Furman, they’ve pulled some great and very unexpected victories this year, and are beginning to turn some heads. I’m on the Paladins bandwagon here.
