George Mason Patriots -4 -- O/U: 144
The Duquesne Dukes and the George Mason Patriots meet in A-10 college basketball action from the EagleBank Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Duquesne Dukes will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 4 games following an 85-69 win over George Washington last time out. Eric Williams Jr. led the Dukes with 22 points on 7 of 11 shooting with a 7 of 7 mark from the foul line, 8 rebounds and 3 steals while Frankie Hughes came right behind with 21 points coming on 7 threes. Sincere Carry added 15 points with a team-high 6 assists while Marcus Weathers added 12 points and 8 rebounds to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Duquesne in the losing winning effort. Michael Hughes added 6 points with a team-high 9 rebounds and 4 blocks as well in the victory. Williams Jr. leads Duquesne with an average of 13.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while Carry leads the Dukes in assists with 5.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Duquesne is averaging 73.7 points per game on 42.9% shooting from the field, 31.8% from behind the arc and 69.7% from the foul line this season.
The George Mason Patriots will look to find some consistency after splitting their last 6 games following a 79-56 loss to St. Bonaventure last time out. Justin Kier led the Patriots with 21 points on 8 of 14 shooting with 3 threes and 6 rebounds while Otis Livingston II and Jordan Miller each had 10 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for George Mason in the losing effort. Jarred Reuter added a team-high 7 rebounds as well in the loss for the Patriots. Kier leads George Mason with an average of 14.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while Livingston II leads the Patriots in assists with 4.2 assists per game this season. As a team, George Mason is averaging 71.3 points per game on 45.4% shooting from the field, 32.1% from the 3-point line and 72.6% from the foul line this season.
Duquesne is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the over is 19-9 in their last 28 conference games. George Mason is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games while the over is 36-15 in their last 51 games following a loss. Duquesne is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams at George Mason.
I can understand George Mason being favored here, being at home with both teams struggling to find their footing down the stretch in terms of consistent play. However, it’s not like being at home has helped George Mason cover as of late while Duquesne has been covering left and right on the road and have had all of the success against George Mason in recent meetings both overall and on the road. I’ll take a shot with Duquesne and the points in a game I could see the Dukes winning outright.
