The Penn Quakers kick off the college basketball season at the George Mason Patriots.

The Penn Quakers won the Ivy League with a 24-9 and earned a spot in the Big Dance as the team played well at both ends of the floor with a 75.9-68.9 scoring edge.

Penn is positioned for another strong Ivy season with their top two performers back. Ryan Betley brings back a team high 14.3 points with five boards while 6-8 forward AJ Brodeur gave the Quakers 13.1 points and a team high 7.2 rebounds. 6-8 forward Max Rothschild will likely see more minutes after scoring 7.5 points and grabbing 7.2 rebounds while teaming with 6-10 freshman Michael Wang to give Penn three players at 6-8 or taller.

The George Mason Patriots finished in the bottom half of the Atlantic Ten with a 16-17 record with struggles at both ends of the floor. George Mason scored 71.8 points on 43.2% shooting and allowed 75.7 points on 45.1%.

However, if experience means anything the Patriots have the ingredients for improvement with virtually everybody back with top scorer Otis Livingston leading the way with 17.3 points.

Justin Grayer brings back 12.3 points and a team high 7.2 rebounds while Justin Kier and Goanar Mar gave GMU eleven points apiece and a combined nine rebounds.

Over is 4-1 in Pennsylvania last 5 vs. Atlantic 10 and over is 4-1 in Pennsylvania last 5 road games and over is 10-4 in Pennsylvania last 14 non-conference games. Under is 4-0 in George Mason last 4 non-conference games and over is 5-1 in George Mason last 6 overall.

The Quakers are top tier in the Ivy while many believe George Mason is capable of cracking the top four in the A-10. I’m siding with the points…

Penn +4

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
