The Towson Tigers and the George Washington Colonials meet in college basketball action from the Charles E. Smith Center on Wednesday night.
The Towson Tigers will look to rebound after a 70-64 loss to Vermont in their last outing dropped the Tigers to 2-5 this season. Brian Fobbs led Towson with 25 points on 8 of 13 shooting with a pair of threes and a 7 of 7 mark from the foul line while Tobias Howard added 12 points as the only other Towson player to score in double figures for the Tigers in the loss. Dennis Tunstall added 6 points and a team-high 6 rebounds with a pair of blocks as well in the losing effort. Fobbs leads Towson in scoring with 14.1 points per game while Tunstall leads the Tigers in rebounding with 6.3 rebounds per game and Howard leads the Tigers in assists with 3.1 assists per game this season. As a team, Towson is averaging 67.3 points per game on 42.4% shooting from the field, 33.3% from behind the arc and 66.4% from the foul line this season.
The George Washington Colonials will also be looking to bounce back after a 73-52 loss to Princeton in their last outing. DJ Williams led the Colonials with 17 points on 8 of 18 shooting along with 6 rebounds and a pair of steals while Terry Nolan Jr. added 11 points as the only other GW player to finish in double-digits scoring in the losing effort. Maceo Jack added 9 points and a team-high 7 rebounds while Justin Mazzulla chipped in a team-high 4 assists as well in the defeat. Williams leads George Washington in scoring with 13.4 points per game while Mazzulla leads the Colonials in assists with 1.8 assists per game and Arnaldo Toro leads GW on the glass with 9.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, George Washington is averaging 60.4 points per game on 39.2% shooting from the field, 28.7% from behind the 3-point line and 63.2% from the foul line this season.
Towson is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against the A-10 and 2-12 ATS in their last 14 road games while the over is 17-8 in their last 25 games overall. George Washington is 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 home games while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 non-conference games. Towson is 4-0-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Neither of these teams have been anything to write home about as of late, so this may be a game that’s better to just watch rather than try to pick a side. However, while Towson has been brutal ATS on the road dating back to last season, the Tigers have done well against the A-10 and have had the upper-hand ATS in this matchup over the years. George Washington has done nothing but burn money this season, so I’ll take the points with Towson as I don’t feel that GW should be favored against anybody right now.
